Water Supply

UC Davis domestic water is supplied by six on-campus wells, drawing from aquifers 800-1400 feet below the ground. The water is not treated, aside from disinfection using chlorine. Utilities' staff continually monitors the quality of the water to ensure it is safe to drink.

How Does UC Davis Water Taste?

Taste is subjective, so opinions will vary from person to person. Some key indicators of the difference in taste between different water sources are Total Dissolved Solids, Specific Conductance, and Hardness. Lower numbers are often associated with water that is described as tasting good. UC Davis water is lower in these three characteristics than most other water supplies in our area.
