Business Partner Spotlight: Stacey Waller

""

This quarter, we are highlighting Stacey Waller, one of our business partners who supports the work we do at Facilities Management. Stacey started working with UC Davis in 2013 at the former IT Services. She has worked her current position as Service Desk Supervisor for Administrative IT since 2022.

Her current duties include a wide variety of tasks ranging from general support tickets to employee onboarding to setting up account permissions and assigning equipment to be deployed. In addition to this, she purchases computer software and approves hardware purchases, oversees the ticket queue to ensure that tickets are being managed in an efficient manner, and troubleshoots possible ticket issues with technicians. She also places phone and data network orders with Communications Resources and assists with numerous department Sympa lists. Even this is just a small glimpse into the range of tasks she performs as Service Desk Supervisor.

Stacey’s favorite part of her job is getting to meet and talk with people. She especially enjoys getting to help others to make their jobs easier. Stacey has had overwhelmingly positive interactions with all the different staff, but says that the Central Heating and Cooling Plant crew hold a soft spot in her heart.

Stacey said that a challenge at her job is dealing with technical difficulties when computers do not work as expected. She explains that a lot of times these issues can be fixed relatively easily, however the newer issues that they have less prior experience with can pose a greater challenge, as they want to get everyone back to working as soon as possible.

In her free time, Stacey enjoys doing community service. She has been a part of the Woodland Host Lions Club as well as Scouting in Woodland for a few years. With these two organizations she participates in activities including Child School Shopping spree, Food Collection and Distribution, serving at the Senior Center, planting trees, literacy programs at elementary schools and more.

Stacey also is a colon cancer survivor. She is nearly five years cancer free, but highlights the strong importance of getting checked. A routine screening when she turned 50 discovered a small tumor. She urges people to get regularly checked and assures that it is not as bad as it may seem and could save lives.

Thank you, Stacey, for all the hard work you do to support Facilities Management!
