Staff Spotlight: Federico Albarracin
Federico Albarracin has been working with UC Davis and Facilities Management for four years as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist. Federico began as an intern in the GIS office in 2018 before being hired as a full-time staff member in November 2020.
In his current role, Federico primarily manages updates to AutoCAD utilities master files, ensuring that the data accurately reflects the most updated state and locations of assets. He also works to keep Facilities Maps updated, prioritizing detail, precision and accuracy.
Federico’s favorite part of the job is getting to interact with people from different departments and the wide variety of both office work and field work that his job provides him with. The range of work types keeps things interesting for him and grants more opportunities to learn from others while also contributing in diverse ways.
Federico loves working at Facilities because of the team he gets to work with. He also has greatly enjoyed his time being part of the Employee Engagement Committee (EEC), finding it incredibly rewarding. His time on the EEC has allowed him new opportunities to connect with people from other departments and further develop new relationships.
Federico has enjoyed getting to meet people in person again, especially post-pandemic. He loves how refreshing it is to get to visit and interact with the field in person and connect with colleagues face-to-face, making collaborations much more personal and meaningful.
A challenge he has faced has been learning the intricate details of each utility system and making sure he can map it out clearly and fully understand each feature. This sometimes poses a challenge but is also rewarding because it allows him to improve efficiency and communication across teams.
In his spare time, Federico enjoys reading fantasy novels, playing badminton, and watching soccer. He is also passionate about 3D printing and modeling, playing guitar and map making.
We greatly appreciate all of your hard work and everything that you have done for FM, Federico!
